I am honored to begin my tenure as the new Superintendent of the Palmerton Area School District. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the search and interview process that occurred several months ago. Many district employees, parents, students, and community members provided their input and feedback to the PASD’s Board of Directors to assist them throughout the process. Thank you for your time and commitment to ensuring that your voice was heard.
Although today may be my first official day in the PASD, I have been transitioning into the district for the last month. Throughout the month of June I had the opportunity to individually meet with several PASD constituents, and I look forward to continuing this process moving forward. Dr. Lonoconus, interim superintendent, was extremely gracious throughout this transition process, and he included me in planning meetings with PASD administrators as well as weekly meetings with superintendents from surrounding school districts. I am also grateful to the PASD Board of Directors for inviting me to participate in several school board meetings. During the last month, all of these meetings verified to me that the Palmerton community is giving of its time and passionate about providing students with an excellent education.
With this expectation and commitment to excellence in education in mind, as I begin my superintendency my immediate priority will be to ensure that we have a written plan and procedures in place regarding the start of the 20-21 school year. Many parents provided input to the administration over the last month via several online surveys. This feedback was included in the initial discussion and planning phase. I want to assure you that we have been working diligently over the last month to discuss all options for the start of the 20-21 school year. Additional information regarding the PASD’s plan will be forthcoming later this month. Please know that through all stages of the discussion and planning process, the health, safety, and welfare of our students and staff have been at the forefront and will continue to guide our decisions.
In closing, please know that I will work hard each and every day for PASD’s students, parents, staff, and community. Thank you for placing your trust in me. I look forward to serving you.
