HS Connect Ed Message – October 1, 2020

Hello and good evening.  This is Paula Husar, principal of Palmerton Area Senior High School.  We are now more than half-way through the first marking period.   For the most part, everyone seems to be doing a great job.  Just a few reminders … It is not possible for students to just randomly stay home when they are a hybrid student.  If they are scheduled to be in school on a particular day, they have to be in school that day.  We gave students the benefit of the doubt when they did this one time.  Now a number of students are trying to do this more frequently.  We simply can not allow that.  All of our plans and protocols are based on students complying with their schedules.  If a student is not sick, the student should be in school on the appropriate scheduled days.  If a virtual student is sick and can not participate in his/her classes, we need a formal excuse just like we did when everyone was physically attending school.  If you have any questions about the attendance policy, please see the Student Handbook (pages 8-9).  We really appreciate your cooperation with this.

Tomorrow is Friday.  This is a completely virtual day.  All students should log-in to participate in their classes. 

If your child is failing one or more classes, you should be receiving a progress report in the mail in the near future.  If this is the case, please contact your child’s teacher and guidance counselor.  If you still have questions and/or concerns, then please contact me as well.
