Softball’s Reese Dugan 2nd Team All-State

~  Congratulations to Lady Bomber Softball pitcher Reese Dugan for being named 2nd Team All-State! Reese is also being named the Times News Softball Player of the Year!! Great Job Reese!!!


 

SOFTBALL DISTRICT XI CHAMPIONS & STATE PLAYOFFS

~  Congratulations to the Blue Bomber Softball Team for being crowned District XI Champions as they defeated Notre Dame Green Pond 3-1!!! This is the first District Championship Palmerton has won since 1997 in any sport and the first softball championship since 1989! Congratulations to the team for an outstanding season so far!!! We are all very proud of you!!!

On Monday, June 1st, the Lady Bomber Softball Team starts their new quest for a PIAA State Championship. They will face District 1 AA champion St. Basil Academy. The game will be held @ Plymouth Whitemarsh High School @ 4pm. The address for the school is listed below.

Hay and Doherty State Medal Winners

~  Congratulations to Spencer Hay and Sean Doherty for bringing home medals @ the PIAA State Track and Field Championships!!! Spencer Hay finished tied for 3rd in the High Jump and Sean Doherty finished 8th in the 300M Hurdles!! Great Job Bombers!!!

Physicals and ImPact Tests Dates

May 14, 2015

 

~  All Athletes must have a PIAA Physical dated June 1st 2015 or later and an ImPact Test on file within the past two years to compete in the 2015-2016 school year.
 
~Physicals will be June 2nd & 4th from 230-430pm in the High School Nurses office. Boys or any girls who cannot make the 4th will go on June 2nd. Girls or any Boys who cannot make the 2nd will go on June 4th. Please bring the physical form that is listed below with pages 1-5 completed. This physical will be good for the entire 2015-2016 school year and is free of charge.

~ImPact tests are scheduled for the following dates and times in Room A122:
 
June 4th
240-320pm Varsity/JV Football
320-400pm Junior High Football
400-440pm Boy's Fall Sports and make ups
 
June 8th
11:10-11:50 Varsity/JV Girls Sports
11:50-12:30 Girls Junior High Sports and make ups
 
Additional Make Up-Dates will be in August before the Fall Sports Season official begins on August 17th.

Palmerton Track Sending Eight to States

~  Palmerton Area School District is proud of our District XI Medal winners and athletes that qualified for the PIAA State Championship Meet @ Shippensburg next Friday and Saturday.

The following athletes won medals at Districts and will be competing at States:
~Spencer Hay-1st High Jump
~Jon Anthony-1st Discus
~Logan Blasiak-1st Pole Vault
~Sean Doherty-1st 300 Hurdles
~Boys 4x100M Relay Team-1st (Sean Doherty, Jerry Pereria, Harley Applebaum, Mike Stasko and Dom Schivone-alternate)

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS – All applications are available in Guidance
 
John C. Young Memorial Scholarship Award – Open to seniors who have applied and been accepted to college, are a good school citizen, participate in sports two or more years, one of which was their senior year. Students must have earned a varsity letter. Managers are included. Deadline to apply is Friday, April 24th at 2:30.
 
The Derek Szena Scholarship – Student must have excelled in scholastic and extracurricular activities while overcoming a physical, economic and/or social obstacle that may have prevented such excellence. Deadline to apply is Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:30.
 
Blaine R. House Memorial Fund – This award is given in memory of Mr. House. Student should be furthering their education after high school. Student should be actively involved in their school and community. Deadline to apply is Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:30.
 
Mrs. Rhoann J.Chimel Memorial Award – senior at Palmerton Area High School, planning to further a career in elementary education. Deadline to apply is Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:30.
 
Warren E Furry Memorial Award – Given to the student who has best exemplified the ideals of community service through active participation in a local fire department and/or ambulance squad. Deadline to apply is Friday, May 8, 2015 at 2:30.
