Dear
Palmerton Area School District web browser,
Thank you for visiting our Stephen S. Palmer Elementary School
web site. There are good tidings to share about our district
and our schools!
The S.S. Palmer Elementary building (grades 2-6; 498 students),
although the oldest building in our district, is a re-modeled
facility that offers challenging and rewarding learning opportunities
for students. Located at the corner of 3rd and Lafayette
Avenues in the borough, our building is considered one of the 'in-town'
schools. Half of our students are bussed while the other
half walk to school. Our focus is to provide an instructional
program for ALL learners and direct each one on a lifetime pathway
of independent learning - so that every student will one day contribute
to our world in a purposeful, constructive way. At the same
time, we nurture students struggling emotionally with issues that
sometime get in the way of their education progress.
I'll share a few success stories from last year, and hope that
perhaps students and parents visiting this web page might consider
joining us on our success mission.
Student learning needs drive our programs! Some outstanding programs
in our school include: 2-6 in-class Curriculum delivery aligned
with Pennsylvania's performance standards, Read To Succeed, Reading
Recovery, Title I, a vibrant PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization),
annual school-wide Science Fair / Art Show / Instrumental / Vocal
Music concerts, active Student Council, comprehensive Instructional
Support Team process to assist troubled students, a year-long
reading contest for all students, and most-importantly a collaborative
approach to problem solving (that includes students, teachers,
parents, and me).
This listing only touches the surface of education magic that
happens in our school each day. Beyond this page, I invite
you to come to our school and experience that magic in action!
Please do phone (610) 826-7538 and schedule a visit!
On behalf of our entire staff...we are... forever dedicated to
kids and the commitment to their learning excellence and healthy
maturation progress.
